A response to Barbie Latza Nadeau’s latest article “Friends Like These.”
Amanda Knox was convicted of murder in an Italian courtroom nearly a year ago. Her appeal will be heard this fall, and if the case is decided on fact rather than fiction, she will be set free.
Ron has written a series of articles for Injustice in Perugia. Four of the articles are now available. Ron's entire series will be added shortly.
You can view all of Steve Moore's television interviews and listen to his radio interview with Frank Shiers on the radio and television page linked above. If you would like to visit each news site individually, I have provided links below.
The appeals filed by Amanda and Raffaele are available on this site for download. Detailed summaries for both appeals are now available.
At True Justice for Meredith, The Machine (Harry Rag) has posted eighteen supposed errors (“Why The Media Are Wrong To Rely On Amanda Knox’s Family For Impartial and Accurate Information”) made by Edda Mellas, Amanda Knox’s mother, in an interview on Larry King Live and in other interviews. I invite readers to examine The Machine’s assertions and evaluate their accuracy. Please add citations where appropriate. I’ll get the ball rolling with my replies to numbers 2, 3, and 8, which are given below the three claims made at TJfM.
July 14, 2010: There is a recent article from Nick Pisa that insinuates that Amanda was interviewed by Oggi magazine This is completely false. Amanda was not interviewed. This is more of the same typical trash that you can expect to see from The Daily Mail. I will not link the article.
Details have been added from the appeals filed by Amanda and Raffaele. Both appeals do an excellent job of attacking the motivation.
The blood samples in the bathroom were not collected properly. Patrizia Stefanoni used the collection swabs like cleaning rags. She wiped large surface areas and also collected from multiple surfaces with one single swab. Stefanoni also neglected to change her gloves. Stefanoni actually advanced the mixing process right on her swabs. Video and analysis are now available.
Mark began blogging about the Knox/Sollecito prosecution because he felt he had never seen such a deep and consistent abuse of scientific methodology in the perpetration of injustice.
These articles are a must read for anyone that is truly interested in discovering the truth about this case.
Seattle journalist Candace Dempsey interviewed Amanda Knox's family both in West Seattle and Italy, and many others, while extensively investigating the murder of Knox's British roommate, Meredith Kercher, in Perugia, Italy.
Steve has agreed to join our effort and will continue to work with us to set the record straight about this case. I would like to personally thank Steve for providing this invaluable information. Steve's expert opinion is one that comes from years of experience and one that must be respected when it comes to crimes of this nature.
I added a detailed photographic analysis of the break in. The investigators neglected to investigate Filomena's room properly. After analyzing the photos of the room and hearing the prosecution's claims, one thing is clear, there is simply no evidence whatsoever proving that the break in was staged. There is absolutely no evidence that could lead anyone to believe that Amanda or Raffaele had anything to do with the broken window in Filomena's room.
April 9, 2010: Site update, An article link has been added to the Prosecutor Mignini page. This is an article from Panorama Magazine that discusses Giuliano Mignini's enemies list. This article was mentioned on the 48 hours CBS blog. The article also briefly discusses why Mignini was convicted. Mignini should no longer be allowed to prosecute cases. The fact that Mignini has retained his prosecutorial powers is ridiculous.
"An appeals court on Monday said it shaved 14 years off the sentence of an Ivorian man in the 2007 murder of a British student because he was the only one of the three defendants to apologize to her family, Italian news agencies reported."
The reasoning for the reduced sentence for Rudy Guede makes me sick. Every credible piece of evidence points right to Rudy Guede. There is no credible evidence pointing to Amanda Knox or Raffaele Sollecito. Prosecutor Mignini had a vision of how this crime took place. He believed the crime started out as a sadistic sex game that turned into a brutal murder when Meredith refused to participate. His fantasy was based on nothing more than his imagination. Judge Micheli was the lead judge in the Guede trial and he also made the decision that Amanda and Raffaele would stand trial for murder. Judge Micheli dismissed many of Mignini's positions but he believed Mignini's theory that this was a group sex game gone wrong. There is no credible evidence that more than one person committed this crime. Micheli's report is deeply flawed. I was surprised at how many times Micheli simply imagined in his own mind how something had occurred. No proof was needed to fill in the large gaps in Mignini's theories. Micheli simply used his own imagination to finish where Mignini left off.
The end result showed Rudy as an accomplice to the murder. According to Mignini and Micheli, Rudy and Raffaele held Meredith and Amanda used the large kitchen knife, that she just happened to always carry around in her purse for protection, to taunt and eventually murder Meredith. (sorry, I plugged in a little information from the Massei report in regard to the knife)
The problem is, Amanda Knox barely knew Rudy Guede. She saw him outside the cottage a couple of times because he played basketball with the boys that lived below Amanda's flat. Raffaele Sollecito didn't know Rudy at all. Raffaele had only been dating Amanda for six days. Was it really credible to suggest that these three people, who were virtual strangers, got together to commit a brutal sex crazed murder? Add the fact that there is no evidence to back up this story and the logical answer would be no. Extraordinary accusations require extraordinary evidence.
Rudy still has one more appeal before the Italian supreme court. If Amanda and Raffaele are acquitted during their appeal in the fall, Rudy will have an excellent argument for acquittal. The lone killer of Meredith Kercher may not even have to serve his 16 years.
This entire case has been a terrible tragedy. This could have been avoided if prosecutor Mignini would have admitted his mistake in the beginning. This wasn't a group sex game gone wrong. Rudy Guede attacked and murdered Meredith Kercher. He acted alone. Because of Mignini, Rudy Guede will have many years of freedom in his future.
March 18, 2010: Amanda Knox Italian Police Bombshell: We Knew She Was Guilty of Murder Without Physical Evidence.
How did Italian police target Knox and Sollecito so quickly? One answer came three months after the arrests. In February 2008, 48 Hours met with Fabio Giobbi, a department head at the Via Tuscolana offices of the forensic police.
Giobbi told 48 Hours he was proud that Knox and Sollecito were arrested before fingerprints, blood, footprints, or DNA were analyzed by his office. Instead, Giobbi explained, the case was solved simply by observing Amanda Knox's behavior.
Site update: I added a new page today regarding coerced false confessions. You can read more here.
I will be adding a timeline tonight. You will be able to find the timeline listed on the resources page. I will also be adding shoe print analysis showing definitively that the single shoe print the prosecution claims to be Raffaele's actually belongs to Rudy Guede. I will provide photographic evidence along with expert analysis.
This is no surprise. Rudy Guede has one more appeal pending. He would never come out and admit that he said these things to his cellmate. Rudy has changed his story several times. Rudy originally said that Amanda and Raffaele were not there when Meredith was murdered. He then changed his story and said he saw a shadow of a woman outside the door that could have been Amanda. Rudy's current statement says that Amanda and Raffaele committed the murder. Rudy simply cannot be trusted. As these "breaking news" stories continue to be reported in the coming months, no matter how the media tries to spin these stories for better ratings, please keep in mind, no new evidence will ever become available linking Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito to the murder of Meredith Kercher. There is absolutely no credible evidence linking Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito to this crime. There is no evidence because Amanda and Raffaele simply were not there.
Knox’s mother, Edda Mellas, told KING 5 News that Alessi’s not alone in claiming that Guede says Knox and Sollecito are innocent.
"I've heard two different reports now that there’s also a priest and a nun that had conversations, not confessions, conversations, where Rudy expressed the fact that he felt bad… that he was feeling some guilt about the fact that he had pointed the finger at these two (Amanda and Raffaele) when they were not there," Mellas said.
March 11, 2010: The 427 page "motivation" document written by judge Giancarlo Massei and judge Beatrice Cristiani was released on March 4, 2010. These scanned pages will take some time to translate into English. The information that has been released publicly so far is very encouraging for Amanda and Raffeale. There are reports of contradictions and it appears that the jury completely disagreed with Mignini's theory. The initial findings also appear to show that the jury was motivated by information not presented at trial. This is not acceptable in Italian law. According to the jury, the murder wasn't premeditated. With this theory, the judges needed a reason for Raffaele's kitchen knife to somehow make it over to Meredith's cottage so it could be used in the murder. The report states that Raffaele most likely suggested to Amanda that she should carry the knife in her purse for protection. How many women carry large bulky kitchen knives around in their purse for protection?
How about these safety suggestions? Do these sound reasonable?
1. Always walk in groups.
2. Avoid walking in secluded areas after dark.
3. Carry pepper spray.
4. Take a self defense course.
5. Carry large kitchen knife in purse.
Really? That's honestly how the knife made it's way over to the cottage? I think it sounds ridiculous. How about you?

West Seattle Herald - Update: Cellmate's deposition & 427 page "motivation" document may clear Amanda Knox.
Amanda Knox Judges Offer "Lies, Nonsense" About Murder Verdict, Says Consultant - Crimesider - CBS
Giuliano Mignini, the chief prosecutor in the Meredith Kercher trial, has been convicted of abuse of office.
Amanda Knox could face a slander charge for testifying police beat her, a prosecutor says.
Theodore Simon: "Amanda’s conviction stands as a tragic example of a wrongful conviction which requires meaningful review,” said Simon. “I look forward to working with Amanda and her family and with her Italian legal team, as we approach an appellate process that is designed, capable and empowered to ‘right this wrong’ which hopefully will result in her deserved release.”
